These lessons explain how the North and South differed eco-nomically, socially and politically. The depth and magnitude of the American Civil War is explored from the vantage points of the North and the South. Students will evaluate the resources of both; understand the major military strategies of the war; and experience the turmoil of life during this period, as well as tri-umph with the Emancipation Proclamation. Students will obtain a better understanding of the perspectives of the North and the South and why the Civil War occurred. (© 1996)
